Great friends Paula Ricci and Chris Colpitts are the co-founders of Kyushu Connection. Paula is from Boston in the U.S. and Chris is from Toronto, Canada. They met in Oita in 1999, where both Chris and Paula were high school teachers on the JET program. Currently they both live in Fukuoka and are working as University teachers. They realized that they wanted to do something to make people get up and get down. They knew they could do something to help connect people of all nationalities who enjoy similar things in life. This is how Kyushu Connection was born.
九州コネクション創設者ポーラ・リッチとクリス・コルピッツの二人は1999年、大分の高校で英語教師をしていた時代に知り合い、大親友となりました。
ポーラは米国・ボストン出身、クリスはカナダ・トロントの出身です。
２人は人々のモチベーションを奮い立たせる為に何か出来ないかと考えました。そこで、共通の何かを持つ、様々な国の人達を結びつける為に何かが出来ると確信したのです。それが、九州コネクションの始まりでした。

In Japan we realize how difficult it is for people with similar interests to connect. With people relying more on the computer world, there simply are not enough traditional avenues for people to meet. With the ever-changing techno world in which we live, we wanted to make our lives more familiar and friendly. With this site we plan to help our members become more visible in the communities in which they live and in turn bridge the everyday gap of those communities.

コンピューターに頼る現代社会では、これまでのトラディッショナルな方法で人と知り合うだけでは十分とはいえません。絶え間なく変わるテクノ社会において、私達は我々の生活をもっと親しみのあるものにしたかったのです。
私達は、このサイトで、会員がそれぞれ生活をするコミュニティの中でより目に見える明確な存在となる手助けをしたいと思っています。言い換えると、そのコミュニティでの日常のギャップを乗り越える橋渡しをしたいと思っています。
